Introduction
The RSE department conducts research and development activities in the analysis and exploitation of data coming from spaceborne, airborne and terrestrial remote sensing sensors for a wide range of applications.
The activities of the RSE Department involve: (i) exploiting data acquired by different types of sensors, both active and passive; (ii) employing a wide variety of data processing and analysis techniques; and (iii) developing different types of scientific and technical applications. The RSE activities can be classified in three main lines. The first one is satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) interferometry for deformation measurement and the generation of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). The second one is ground-based SAR and Real Aperture Radar for deformation measurement, DEM generation and structural vibration monitoring. The third one includes a miscellaneous of activities based on various remote sensing techniques, including terrestrial laser scanner, lidar, radiometry, microwave sensors, etc.
